The beeswax used to make these pillars was extracted in a sustainable and cruelty free manner.
These beeswax blocks are made with 100% raw beeswax that I personally clean and strain at home from recycled honeycombs.
The honeycombs are extracted in a chemically free and non toxic manner, by an amazing company, from homes who have been targeted by wild bee swarms. I forage for them in specific locations, given to me by the company, near the California coast in nearby forest areas.
Once I have my honeycombs collected I recycle them by cleaning, melting, and rendering them down into molds.
I repeat the cleaning process once more until the beeswax is completely clean.
The bees are safely placed into new colonies with local beekeepers along the west coast.
I decided to purchase from MWM because this small business's sustainable values aligned with my own. The soaps are absolutely gorgeous and you can tell Alexandra is an artist in the business of soap. All of the packaging was not only beautiful but sustainable too; it's nice to be able to receive exactly the product you're promised.
That being said, you will have to be patient about receiving your order. It took almost two months for my package to arrive. (TO BE FAIR: Alexandra had just given birth and she deserved time to recover). But what I mean is that, like slow fashion, remember that this is single human being working her butt off to hand make several soaps before being able to package and ship them off. This is a product you have to order ahead of time (before you run out of soap in your household) and it's also a product you can feel good about, knowing that you're supporting someone's actual life and their craft.
Another thing about Alexandra: When the delivery time for my package was delayed, I reached out to Alexandra that I would be moving cross-country and wondered if she wouldn't hold the package until I arrived at my new address. She of course said it wouldn't be problem and indeed sent my package to my new address. She was very helpful and was a pleasure to communicate with.
Please, if you're not in a hurry to buy soap and want to stock up on a bulk supply, give MWM a chance and you'll see how rewarding this small business is.
